Hand Print Equations

Student hand prints showing additions equations!
As the students move forward in math, we are looking at the numbers larger than 5. We talked about how the number 6 is 5 and 1 more. The students show us with their fingers: 5 on one hand and 1 more on the other hand. In the same way, they show 8 with five fingers on one hand and three on the other.

It is important that students start to see the groups of five within the numbers as it helps them master quick addition facts. Each student was able to make a fun hand print showing a math fact and then write their own matching math equation. Thank you so much for the volunteers who help make these activities possible for the students!
